City of West Chicago Seeks Information on Recent Flood Damage

City of West Chicago

Due to heavy rainfall and minor flooding on July 23 – 24, 2010 in DuPage County and the West Chicago area, the County was declared a state disaster area by the State of Illinois. As part of the process to seek a federal disaster declaration, the City must collect information on the extent of flooding and damage and forward this to the DuPage County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

The City of West Chicago is asking residents who have experienced flood damage to complete and submit a short data collection questionnaire by 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 2, 2010. The questionnaire is available at www.westchicago.org and may be submitted online. For those without internet access, please call the Community Development Department at (630) 293-2200 x141 for assistance.

The information will permit the City to complete the necessary paperwork to submit to DuPage County and the State of Illinois. Additionally, this information will allow the City to discover the extent of the damaged properties and examine possible ways to mitigate these issues for the future.
