All-State District Music Festival!

West Chicago HS

Community High School is proud to announce that four music students have successfully completed auditions for the All-State District Music Festival for 2012. Josh Brown, Josh Delamater, Gilary Valenzuela, and Natalie Farrell participated in the prestigious Illinois Music Educators Association District Festival on Saturday, November 17th at Hampshire High School in Hampshire, IL. The IMEA District Festival featured a Band, Orchestra, and a Choir which are each made up of high school students from around the area who qualify. At the Festival, students from around the area rehearsed with collegiate conductors in preparation for a concert that afternoon.

Auditions for IMEA are highly competitive.  Students prepared two etudes and all major and minor scales, and were required to sight-read pieces during the audition.  Josh Brown, who sings bass in the choir and Gilary Valenzuela, who sings alto, both performed with the IMEA District Choir.  Flutist Natalie Farrell participated with the IMEA District Band and Josh Delamater played violin in the IMEA Orchestra.  All four students are part of Community High School’s Choir, Orchestra, or Symphonic Band.
