HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Hello Friends,
I hope you all had a safe and happy New Years celebration. With all of the bad news during last year, 2012 can only get better.
We begin our spring session on January 31st and will continue on through the end of May. If you have any thoughts on the legislation being introduced please feel free to send me a note or call my office. I had many e-mails on various issues last year and will continue to inform you all on what is happening in Springfield. If you have ideas on legislation now is the time to get it to me.

State Representative Randy Ramey (R-Carol Stream) announced today that he would seek the Republican nomination for the 23rd State Senate District. The 23rd District includes: Addison, Bartlett, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Glen Ellyn, Glendale Heights, Hanover Park, Itasca, Lombard, Medinah, Roselle, Villa Park, West Chicago and Wood Dale.

At last evening's DuPage County Republican Central Committee meeting, Randy Ramey was unanimously elected by his fellow Central Committee members to lead the DuPage Republican Party. Upon being elected Chairman Ramey expressed that he is , “grateful for the support of my colleagues and I look forward to working together to build an even stronger DuPage County Republican Party."

Governor Quinn signed House Bill 3360 into law today. The measure, sponsored by State Representative Randy Ramey (R-West Chicago), requires the Department of Employment Security, in cooperation with the Department of Corrections, to provide increased employment opportunities for prisoners who have fulfilled their sentences and are ready to reenter society.

During a special session of the Illinois General Assembly, the Illinois
House and Senate approved funding for capital improved projects, sending
the measure to the governor. Senate Democrats in a parliamentary
maneuver tried to tack on over $430 in increased budgetary spending to
the capital bill.

With Republicans finally at the negotiating table, State Representative Randy Ramey (R-West Chicago) voted in favor on a series of bills to pass the first balanced budget in Illinois in over a decade. Ramey says that Democrat leaders finally used Republican ideals to propose a balanced budget.

State Representative Randy Ramey (R-West Chicago) passed a measure today aimed at clarifying current state statute pertaining to personal privacy. House Bill 2259 would amend the Freedom of Information Act and Open Meetings Act to authorize closed meetings and correspondence when it pertains to an individual's personal information.
