12:00pm [12:00pm] Annual Salad Luncheon
The United Methodist and Congregational Women will host their annual Salad Luncheon on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. The luncheon will be held at the First United Methodist Church located at 643 E. Washington St. in West Chicago. This event is free and open to all women in the community. If you plan on attending please call 630-231-3344 to reserve your seat at the luncheon. Stop by the wagon shed to see the blacksmith repair equipment and demonstrate the tools and techniques of the trade. Demonstrations ongoing. 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. at Kline Creek Farm, 1N600 County Farm Road in West Chicago. All ages. Free. Registration not required. Call 630-876-5900.

8:00pm [8:00pm] Volunteer Native-Plant-Nursery Workday
Help the District’s Habitat Improvement Program by lending a hand at the nursery. Weed and water plant beds, or collect and clean seed. 8 – 11 a.m. at the Grounds and Resources Complex at Blackwell Forest Preserve, 29W220 Mack Road in West Chicago. Ages 12 and up; under 16 with an adult. Free. To register, call 630-933-7681 at least five business days in advance; groups of five or more must call 10 business days in advance.
