Annual Ice Cream Social and Silent Auction

Description: West Chicago Historical Society hosts its annual Ice Cream Social and Silent Auction from noon to 3p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, on the lawn at Kruse House Museum, 527 Main St. The $4 ticket price includes beverage, ice cream, pie or cake. Also persons have a chance to win a door prize, purchase raffle tickets or take part in the Cake Walk.
The KHM is open for tours highlighting the summer 2012 exhibit, “Treasures of Tea,” which features teapots and other tea-related items. The gardens, restored and maintained by West Chicago Garden Club, and the towering trees provide a perfect backdrop for an afternoon of socializing.
Items in the silent auction include gift certificates to restaurants and local area businesses, books, artwork and more. The auction keeps people moving as they participate in the competitive and friendly bidding, which culminates in a frenzy of activity when the bidding ceases at 2:30 p.m. No bid numbers are issued after 2:15 p.m.
Parking is available in the City Hall Parking lot, 475 Main Street or the Metra train parking lot. Rain date is Sunday, September 9. For further information, call society secretary Joan Conkright at 630 231-2329.
